My personal issue about musical choice.
It doesn't have to be slow and mellow to express sad feelings or unhappy events. At least I think so.
Sometimes even with a super slow and mellow tones a song failed to derived the feelings. Like, maybe you easily got bored by it, or maybe the slow tempo makes you sleepy, or you're easily got sick by that. That kind of mellow song leaves no trace, no feelings, nothing.
I'm not against slow and mellow song, I like it. It's just, for me that kind of song it has to leave something special. Not a mere crey in melody by the singer.
To be honest, I like songs with quite depressed and hurt meanings even the melody do not resemble so. One of my favorite is Fun.'s "Some Nights". A friend of me who've never learnt about the lyrics had no idea about how heartbreaking the song is until I told her. I don't know, I think this song successfully potray how wonderful, despicable, desperate, beautiful, dreadful, great and superb life is. I think. The other potentially-depressed-songs are Simple Plan's "Welcome to My Life", Sara Bareilles' "King of Anything", BoysLikeGirls' "She's Got a Boyfriend Now", etc.
Or if you're into k-pop you must knew how depressed and deep Big Bang's "Haru Haru" is and how desperate TVXQ's "Stand by You" is. And if you're into Vocaloid fandom, you have to acknowledge how hurt are Dixie Flatline's "Ignition" and "Just Be Friends" (sung by Megurine Luka), and don't forger 40mP's "Torinoko City" (sung by Hatsune Miku).
I think those kind of songs are kind of make senses. Hiding its feelings behind the upbeats and catchy tones. Yet, the lyrics are desperate or even screaming for help. Which, I called them in this post title, secretly-depressed songs. You know, sometimes in real world we are supposed to kept our feelings hidden or bottled-up. That's why I said those kind of songs are kind of make senses.
Again, this is my personal musical choice issue.
